My Story

I attended seven schools before college. At each one, I felt most at home in English class. The sensation was more than the familiarity of classic novels, or the comfort of losing myself in posters of Gatsby’s green light, or in the literary devices that circled the room. There was a satisfying thrill in creative writing exercises and workshops that made language arts classes feel much shorter than the rest. When it was time to choose a career, one of my cousins told me to pursue the profession that I enjoy so much I don’t notice the passage of time. It was a simple choice then.

At Florida State University, I dedicated all four years to creative writing and political science, an introduction I can thank two extraordinary teachers for. This combination of strategic communications, analytical research, and storytelling led me to public relations. My time in Tallahassee, working for Florida State, led me to a rewarding career in public health administration too. Although varied, my experience in project coordination, writing, teamwork, and strategic thinking shape a distinctive skillset which I always seek to expand.

When I am not working, I tend to a platoon of succulents, play piano when no one is listening, read my latest magical realism finding, or look for new ways to decorate cake pops.
